Thank you for your interest in Higher Ground Services. We are not your every day agency. We're a collection of empathic, effective and very genuine professionals. We're down to Earth and solutions focused. We will challenge you but not judge you. We embrace whatever works and we do whatever it takes.
Our clinicians are highly skilled and trained in a variety of mental health modalities. What we're really geared toward is individualizing treatment to your specific needs. We see therapy as a mutually developed process. Help us understand what you want to be different in your life, and we'll help you achieve it.
Higher Ground believes that there are many pathways to recovery. Whether you're active in addiction or newly sober, we welcome you. Our counselors excel in taking an holistic view of recovery and focus on needs fulfillment and relapse prevention. We see spirituality as vital to any recovery process but we respect what you believe as an individual and will focus on helping you believe in yourself and your life moving forward.
Higher Ground specializes in dual diagnosis treatment. We believe that sobriety needs to be the primary goal but we recognize (especially in the case of PTSD and trauma recovery) that sometimes developing stability in mental health must take precedence. We encourage folks to focus on making healthy changes in their lives and not to focus on diagnoses. In our experience, folks who are active in addiction are very often misdiagnosed.
Surviving traumatic events is always an experience that is unique to the individual. Therefore, recovery treatment must be tailored to meet your unique needs and in a way that first and foremost promotes a sense of personal safety. Higher Ground has served hundreds of survivors of abuse, assault, and violence. We are above all a safe environment filled with people who understand and respect your resilience.
All groups at Higher Ground are open to new members and are drop in format (no long term commitments). We currently offer Dual Diagnosis Aftercare, Art Therapy Groups and a Women Helping Women group.
Higher Ground is certified by the State of Maine to provide assessment and treatment for those who have been convicted of OUI offenses.
Higher Ground provides assessment for children in need of direct services. We recognize how vital these services can be and we typically get folks scheduled and completed quickly.
