As one of the newest freestanding behavioral health facilities in the United States, Park Royal offers a is a private free-standing 103-bed psychiatric hospital that provides care for middle-age adults and older adults from inpatient to intensive outpatient programs. Our goal is to help a patient return to a full and productive life – as well as a return home – as soon as possible.
Following our mission of offering specialized treatment for each of our patients' needs, we have a number of special programs and levels of care. Our goal is to provide tailored treatment that sets the stage for lifelong recovery with professionalism and compassion in a safe, private setting. In order to maintain our goal we offer the following treatment programs:
Adult Inpatient Treatment Program
Once admitted to the adult program, the patient's needs are addressed through a multidisciplinary team including board-certified psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, primary care physicians, physical therapists, dietitians and around-the-clock clinical and nursing staff. Groups are held on a daily basis focusing on cognitive behavioral and educational goals helping patients develop skills allowing them to better resolve conflicts, improve interpersonal skills, manage problematic behaviors, reduce stress, improve self-esteem, and improve personal insight.
Seniors and Geriatric Treatment Program
Park Royal Hospital's inpatient geriatric program is for adults over 65, that a struggling with mental health disorders and signs of dementia. Treatment involves multi-disciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, primary care physicians, physical therapists, dietitians and around-the-clock clinical and nursing staff.
Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment Program
It is very common for individuals to struggle with more than one mental health disorder at a time. The staff at Park Royal know how difficult it is to get all of your symptoms under control, especially while you are feeling helpless and experiencing a great deal of emotional pain. Our multi-disciplinary team is fully trained to identify those who are suffering co-occurring disorders. They will work with you to explain all of your conditions, and to provide the most effective treatment for your specific needs.
Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP)
Our unique Intensive Outpatient Program offers an alternative treatment option designed as a “step down” from an inpatient program once an individual no longer needs such a high level of structure, monitoring, and care. The focus of this program is on methods and techniques for managing anxiety, mood related conditions, and other emotional and behavioral issues. Men and women participate in active treatment three to five times a week for three hours a day with additional services possible, depending on the individualized plan designed collaboratively by the individual and Park Royal's professional IOP staff.
Since Park Royal is a holistic treatment center, they offer a number of other therapeutic modalities that focus on treating other aspects of an individuals life. Some of these experiential programs may include:
Family Involvement
At Park Royal, we fully understand you come from a larger group of people and we aim to include loved ones in your recovery as much as we can.
We offer family sessions to allow time for you and your loved ones to discuss your mental health issues, the treatment you are receiving, as well as ways in which your loved ones can assist you in your recovery. We will also allow your loved ones the opportunity to discuss the ways in which your your disorder has impacted their lives and provide local community resources for continued healing for your loved ones.
Highlights:
Anyone who is seeking admission to any one of our programs simply has to pick up the phone and contact our admissions team.
Our admissions department will be available to take your call 24/7. By asking a series of questions our team member is able to help you decide upon the best treatment option that will fit your personal needs. In addition to verifying your insurance benefits our staff can answer any questions you may have about our program and the treatment process. If you ultimately decide Park Royal is not the best fit for you, we will refer you to another program that may be more suited to your needs.
The overall goal of Park Royal Behavioral Health Services is to be a leading behavioral health organization that provides a continuum of services to those in need, while at the same time complementing the services that currently exist in our community. We strive to be a leader in the provision of quality and life changing mental health services. Every staff member at Park Royal abides by the following guiding principles:
At Park Royal, we offer state-of-the-art care combined with a good old fashioned touch.
This place is a disgrace and should be shut down. I agree fully with the comments of the other reviewers. I was a voluntary admission and therefore entitled by law to discharge within 24 hours of seeking discharge, which I did within 12 hours of my arrival in that hell-hole.
I was thereafter treated with disdain and browbeaten and insulted by a panel of inquisitors who questioned my right to leave and were insistent that I should stay on in their totally abominable facility to complete a seven day "program". I'm a lawyer and stood my ground. I was eventually discharged that day. The staff for the most part were hostile and unprofessional.
Park Royal is notorious for abusing the Baker Act. They use the Baker Act to detain healthy people so they can bill insurance. I was only visiting someone and a nurse at the front desk threaten to Baker Act me for asking too many questions. This place is a true nightmare. Once inside, the nurses wield all of the power and threaten to keep patients indefinitely. Florida Legislators need to reform the Baker Act so that it can not so easily be abused. Now that I know about the baker act I'll never step foot again in Florida.
If this has happened to you, please contact me. Unfortunately, the Baker Act prohibits us from suing this hospital despite flagrant impropriety.
This is a horrible institution. I was brought here against my will and kept for 8 days, with only a 15 minute interview with a psychiatrist. The meds prescribed were not helpful at all.Follow-up got totally "screwed up" due to staff incompetence. Would NEVER recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Calling this care is a HORRIBLE joke. Place is understaffed, disorganized, and the treatment team DOES NOT care about the individual. If you cannot pay, you will not be admitted. If you are brought in under a Baker Act 2 things could happen. If you have good insurance, you will be kept as long as possible(without diagnosis or medical necessity in my specific case). If you do not have good insurance, you will be discharged ASAP. Most likely before the 72 hour examination period. Truly putting profits before patients, while egregiously neglecting public welfare.
Park Royal is a revolving door of both patients, and employees. Many staff members had not even been with the company for one month! The workers here moped-around looking more sad than the patients. Clinical staff are terribly rude, and will withhold information about your rights and treatment plan.
I am very concerned that Park Royal hospital will continue to provide inadequate care to those who seek help, further perpetuating mental illness in the local community. Therapist (Frank) called me a "pussy" after hearing me mention complaining about being cold. Not exactly appropriate behavior for a Clinical Therapist, if you ask me. Charge Nurse denied me access to a Right to Release form after I had been held for 72 hours(probably so they could rush to file a petition to keep me longer)If it wasn't for Park Royal being served a Writ of Habeas Corpus on my behalf, I am confident I would still be illegally held there without medical necessity. Doctors are impersonal, rush through their time with patients, and do not provide the level of professional care that is required. It was interesting observing the psychiatrists experiment with peoples medication, most times making them more unstable.
I am truly sorry for those that come here expecting to be treated in ethical, efficient and timely manner. You would likely be better off at any other comparable institution in the area. It would be a favor to the community to see this place shut down/change management.
